We are at Cheyboygen State Park in Michigan, camping on the shore of Duncan Bay, right off of Lake Huron. This puts us close to Mackinac City and the ferry to Mackinac Island.
We spent Wednesday on Mackinac Island. It is a motorcar free environment! Lots of bikes, horse drawn carriages and walkers. We toured the Grand Hotel (very old and stately). Spent most of the day doing walking tours to historic sites and natural formations(arch rock). It was a very nice day. Even had lunch in a tavern(yum, tavern food!)

Why in my day they didn't allow gas buggies on Mackinac either. They haven't made much progress have they? We did manage to ride those new-fangled velocipedes around the island on a McAdam-paved road no less. I guess nowadays they charge you to go in the Grand Hotel to keep out undesirables.
