AUGUST 1

Friday

Our home for the next few days is Deception Pass State Park(WA) on Whidbey Island. We visited two forts on the island that were used for defense in WWII. Catie and Mark walked through a bunker at Ft. Ebey(1) that was up on the bluff, offering beautiful views of the Strait of Juan De Fuca(2). Ft Casey actually had a disappearing rifle on display!(3) We also visited the lighthouse at Ft..Casey.(4)

After a nice dinner at a bistro in Langley,WA. and a walk along the water (5)we went back "up island" to watch the sunset at Deception Pass.(6&7)

Love all the pics and updates. I think when you were in WA is when my brother was on the East Coast with our family, but next time you are out there I will have him give you the tour of Seattle's fine spots (mainly breweries if Catie and Mark are game :)

I am very jealous of this whole trip and am keeping Brendan from this site since it will make him demand we take a cross country road trip which I am not quite ready for with an active 2 year old.

Keep us posted now that you are back to the areas of good WiFi!

Hi guys!

What an awesome adventure you are having. Love the pics and hearing about your itinerary. (you're so techie!) It was great to see Katie in the pics too! I think the travel bug in in her genes for sure. It's rainy in Jax so you're not missing a thing. Safe journey and party-on!
